Marie Helene Jeannopoulos — known in the family as Penny — was born in New York in 1960, seventeen years after her brother Peter. She moved to Santo Domingo in 1980, the year of her father Constantine’s death there, and married Juan Medina in Santo Domingo on May 15, 1982.
She is the living family member with the closest memory of Constantine and Sophie’s later years in Santo Domingo, and is the principal informant — confirmed in May 2026 — for several corrections that brought this record into alignment with what actually happened: that her parents moved to the Dominican Republic together (not separately, as an earlier draft had implied); that her mother Sophie died in a hospital there in December 2005; and that the physician who certified her father’s 1980 death certificate was not, as I had wrongly written, ever Vice President of the country.
